CLCSBC Sends Letter to Board of Supervisors

July 24, 2018
Honorable Chairman Robert A. Lovingood
County Government Center
385 N. Arrowhead Ave, 5th Floor
San Bernardino, CA 92415
Dear Chairman Lovingood,
The recent forced resignation of San Bernardino County’s Registrar of Voters, Michael Scarpello, directly impacts the County’s voters. With 105 days until the November election, there are serious matters before the County in overseeing an election of this magnitude.
We are primarily concerned with the following issues and how it will impact the upcoming election:
  1. Security of the county’s aging system
  2. Cybersecurity Issues related to the county’s website
  3. Outreach and engagement plan to boost voter turnout
  4. Lack of personnel to administer necessary election services
Although, we have read reports of the County’s response in the newspaper, we realize that this may not fully represent an entire analysis completed by the County. Therefore, we look forward to your reply expressing either your opinion, board’s consensus, and hopefully, the plans moving forward.
We hope that you understand how important these issues are to the Chicanx/Latinx community, which is equivalent to over 1 million people and 49% of the county’s population.
We kindly await your response.
Thank you,
Ana Gonzalez
President, Chicano Latino Caucus of San Bernardino County
